MVP was contacted by a family in Rock Island who had
been experiencing several unsettling events in their
home. This is their report…
My 16 yr old started hearing voices, she thought that
they were speaking another language she said sounds
like a little girl and a old man. She was scared to tell
anyone she was hearing this so she kept it to herself.
My 10 yr old was doing dishes one day and she ran and
slammed the basement door, I asked her why she did
that she said the voices are coming from the basement.
That night I asked the question to my 16 yr old, “ do
you ever hear things in the basement”? she said “the
voices? All the time“. I had always been sitting on the
couch or in the kitchen and thought I saw things
running past doorways but I shrugged them off as
lights from cars that were passing as we live on a busy
street.
One day I was home sick from work. It was in the
summer and I was laying awake in bed and I heard
something whisper “mommy” 2 times. I answered,
thinking it was my son.
My oldest daughter started wearing cross earrings and
said she stopped hearing the voices as much when she
had them in. She lost them and the voices came back
more often.
One day my 16 yr old was home alone in the summer
and she heard things in the cupboards she said
sounded like cups being knocked over and she stayed
outside the house until my mom could come get her.
My son who is now 8 wrote “I am here but you cant
see me” on his window sill. I asked him why he wrote
that and he said “I don't know mommy“. He also does
not like to sleep in his bed he says he feels like
someone is putting their hands on his back.
My dog has a kennel in the basement and at times he
has gotten out and my 16 yr old will put him back and
in 5 min he is back out when she had double clipped
the cage.
One day my daughter was babysitting my friends 1 yr
old daughter and she was just playing and looked into
the dining room and started screaming and crying
uncontrollably so my daughter picked her up and she
buried her head into my daughters chest and when my
daughter asked what's wrong she pointed to the dining
room.
We hear things falling, sounds like a person falling on
the hard wood floors at 1 am and 3 am sometimes I
have come down to see if one of the kids had fallen
out of bed and everyone is sound asleep. I have
always felt like someone is very close watching me
when I am trying to sleep so I often open my eyes
quickly thinking I will see something.
My daughter's boyfriend was over one time and saw a
man standing by the back bedrooms and he said “who
is that“? He looked back and it was gone.
My daughter was sleeping on the couch last summer,
as she does most of the time now as her room is in
the basement and she is too scared to sleep there
now, when she saw a man stumble into the living
room and fall on the floor. She said he was wearing a suit.
INTERVIEW AND WALK-THROUGH
Steph and Becky conducted interviews with the family
while Bryce, Rick and Christi did a walk-thru of the
home. The house consists of a basement with the
oldest daughter’s bed room, a main floor with living
room, dining room, kitchen and two children’s
bedrooms and an upstairs with the mother’s bedroom
and the bath. The upstairs also contains three
crawlspaces/storage areas that are not in use.
Bryce found several instances of high EMF readings in
the wires in the basement, but nothing that would
affect the daughter’s bedroom. In the mother’s
bedroom, he discovered very high EMFs from the
computer, TV, and alarm clock that are close to the
bed. The mother stated that she kept all the devices
on all night to drown out noises. The team discussed
with her the possible effects of exposure to high EMF
emissions. All other EMF and temperature readings in
the house were in the normal range.
After the walk thru and interviews, the team met the
other members at Checkers to discuss the evidence and
plan the investigation. Present were Rick, Steph,
Bryce, Becky, Christi, Pat, Sarah, Jill, Maria, Amy and
Diana.
THE INVESTIGATION
When we returned to the house, we were told that
while we were gone, classical music started playing
from somewhere inside. The family checked all areas
inside and out, but could not find the source.
We decided to start by sending in two teams of four,
one in the basement and one upstairs to avoid noise
contamination.
While the teams were investigating,
the clock radio in the younger daughter’s bedroom on
the main floor began playing music. Bryce was first to
reach the site, and reported seeing a strange, thick
mist in the room and the clock on the radio blinking.
The team attempted to recreate the radio turning on
by plugging and unplugging, checking the alarm setting
and discerning if there was a power failure. We were
unable to debunk or recreate the experience. No one
was present in the room when it happened. This is
Bryce’s report of the incident…
Myself, Becky, Maria and maybe Diana were upstairs in
the mother's bedroom. I was in the process of placing
an EMF detector in the closet crawlspace when we all
heard music suddenly blaring from downstairs. (Grease
to be exact.) We all wondered what was going on, so
I went downstairs and immediately asked the mother,
daughter, and niece if they had turned on the radio,
they all said "no." So, I went into the bedroom and
immediately noticed some sort of mist in the room. I
radioed it in and entered the room. I noticed that the
alarm clock that was playing had it's time blinking, like
it lost power. Everyone else arrived around this time,
and we tried to recreate the radio turning on by itself
by unplugging and re-plugging, with no results.
On later reviewing the evidence, Becky’s EVP recorder,
which had been left in one of the closets upstairs,
picked up the sound of a loud bang just before the
radio turned on.
Diana remembered hearing a loud crash or noise right
before the music started, and thought it might have
been the door opening to the downstairs bedroom,
maybe hitting the wall. The family said that the door
had been closed prior to the incident, but it was open
when we investigated.
Another incident occurred as Steph was leading a team
of four back downstairs. As she started down the steps,
she saw something flying towards her head and
stumbled backwards. As she did, the team heard a
“clink” as something hit the wall. On investigation, we
found a small plastic bead lying on the steps, the
apparent object that was thrown at Steph. She did not
recall if she saw a form before the object was thrown,
as she reacted too fast. This is her report…
Later when entering the basement with the team
behind me I saw at the time what looked like to me a
rock heading towards my head from the empty room
below. I was the first one going down the stairs and
when I heard whatever it was coming at me hit the
wall behind me and hit the ground I reacted and went
back up the stairs quickly. I then proceeded to tell the
team what I saw and heard while being a bit shook up.
Others members of the team heard the object hit the
wall. A small black bead was found at the top of the
stairs. I did not see a figure or black shadow at the
foot of the stairs where the bead was thrown from but
everything did happen so fast and this is just what I
recall. I saw an object coming at my head and heard it
hit the wall behind me and where the object was
thrown from there was no one (living) there.
While the team was upstairs in the mother’s bedroom,
Bryce, who was shooting video, heard something move
on the shelf to his right. On reviewing the audio at this
time, Rick discovered what sounded like a few bars of
music playing right after the incident. No one who was
present heard any music.
While Becky’s team was in the son’s bedroom, they
caught whiffs of sulfur and a floral scent. The smells
did not last very long, and they could find no source
for the odors, although it was reported that there was
a fire burning and people smoking in the neighbor's
backyard.
Bryce’s team moved to the son's bedroom where he
had written on the wall. In this room, several
members heard a cat, and one even thought she felt
an animal brush against the back of her leg. We asked
the mother and she said that there are no cats in the
house and the dog outside would have reacted to the
presence of a feline.
Several members of the teams developed headaches in
different areas of the house. While investigating the
basement, Pat was overcome with an intense feeling of
loneliness and had to leave the area. Also in the
basement, Becky felt a loss of balance and started
falling forwards.

The team recorded several evps at the site and those above are the ones
we could not explain.

This is Sarahs' report on the previous two evps:

The two evps that I thought were in a different language, appear to be
yiddish. I emailed them to the Rabbi at the Tri-Center Jewish center to
see if he could identify them. He could not identify what was being said in the
the 3nd one, but the first one seemed to say, "shan zeit" which translates
to "its already/almost time".

CONCLUSION
Based on the audio evidence and personal experiences, the team feels
there might be a spirit of a little girl and possibly an older Jewish man
in the house. We do not feel it is anything malicious, just playful or seeking
attention.
